Activity: M&M introductions

Purpose: A fun introduction activity

Materials needed: M&Ms or differently colored candy

Instructions/Steps:

This is a really easy and fun introduction activity. There are many versions of this you could do, let me know how it goes.

1. Ask the group to get into pairs.
2. For each round, ask the clients to take up to 5 M&Ms.
3. On the board, write out instructions for differently colored M&Ms. For example: red – hobbies; green – places you’ve traveled; brown – favorite job; etc.
4. After 3-5 minutes have the clients switch to a different partner, take more M&Ms and repeat the activity.
5. Stop when the clients have had a chance to pair with all other members in the group (or if you run out of M&Ms).
6. Debrief the activity by asking the group what they remember about each other. Also ask which questions were easier or harder to answer.
